OUR CAPABILITIES

Metaltech is located in DuBois, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the powder metal capital of the world. Production occurs in Building One, a modern 27,000 square foot facility. Building Two, containing 25,000 square feet, offers storage and warehousing. Our facilities are filled with modern, well-maintained equipment, and staffed by employees with decades of experience in powder metal.

Metaltech has all of the powder metallurgy product manufacturing equipment needed to produce your powder metal product solutions. Featuring multi-level equipment up to 250 tons.

SINTERING EQUIPMENT

  • Sintering bonds the compacted powder particles by a diffusion process that creates solid material bridges between particles.

  • Sintering atmospheres consist typically of nitrogen/hydrogen mixtures enabling oxide reduction and preventing decarburization.

  • Conventional sintering typical temperatures up to 1150°C (2100°F) and to high temperatures of 1260°C (2300°F) to achieve most published MPIF Standard 35 Material properties.

SIZING EQUIPMENT

  • Press Size Range: 5 Ton – 150 Ton

  • To improve dimensional and shape accuracy, sintered parts can be pressed into sizing tools.

  • Individual features like inner and outer diameters or splines can be specifically targeted.

  • The same process can be used to increase density.

Early in the powder metal part development process, Metaltech involves the customer in the engineering & powder metal part design. Metaltech's engineering staff’s extensive experience aims to produce part design solutions that meet or exceed the customer’s requirements and result in significant cost savings for customers.

Metaltech engineers powder metal part design and development:
  • Specifications verified for each powder metal part

  • Part designs and processes optimized for manufacturability

  • Part designs are produced digitally using Solid Edge along with a 3D printer to aid in proper design for efficient manufacturing from powdered metal.

  • Part tooling designs are optimized using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for longer wear life.

FORCED POWDER COMPACTION

From conventional sintering furnaces to high-temperature sintering and sinter hardening capabilities, Metaltech has the equipment to produce sintered metal parts and components to their precise specifications. Equipment consists of 6 modern sintering furnaces, ranging in belt sizes from 8" through 24", including two of high temperature design/capability, both with rapid cooling/sinter hardening capability.

Sintering

Powdered Metal Part Finish & Treatments

Sintered powdered metal parts can be finished or treated to achieve desired characteristics such as corrosion resistance, improved strength and hardness, surface wear resistance, edge-sharpness relief, porosity sealing, and control of size and surface finish. 

Metaltech assists the customer in determining the most effective method for post-production finishing. Metaltech has in-house secondary processes, as well as contacts within the industry to enlist the service of subcontractors to produce the desired finished product. Equipment at Metaltech, Inc. includes 3 CNC machining centers, with pallet changers, 2 CNC milling centers, one with a pallet changer, 3 vertical double disc grinders and a variety of other manual production lathes and drilling/tapping machines.

For all of our powder metal parts and components, Metaltech determines tooling sizes and requirements, including in-house multi-level tooling, to achieve the desired dimensions or specified parameters for our customers.
